Chilly Weather and House Games

The weather in Victoria has continued to cool over the last few weeks and were entering the winter season with frost on the grass, and more indoor activities as the weather turns to cold and rain.

The Harvey boys Saturday Activities this week included Ice Skating, a Goldstream hike, and House games.

Ice skating was a blast with Bosco, Henry, Irving, Alex, Hiro, Michael, Brenton, and Rayane all attending the activity. Bosco and Irving took some tumbles while Henry and Rayane attempted to crack the whip with some friends.

Our Goldstream hike involved some viewing of the Salmon run which takes place in Goldstream in the late fall and early winter. The whole park smells like fish during this period! The high quantities of dead fish also attract bears and other wildlife so the students never know what they might see!

House games this week focused on Basketball and Minute to Win it. Minute to win it had the kids pitted against students from other houses in short challenges that lasted 1 minute. Activities included using the muscles in one’s face to maneuver a cookie into one’s mouth. There was also an activity where students needed to transport cotton balls with their face using Vaseline as an adhesive.

Now, let’s talk excitement! The boys were gearing up for a basketball tournament, and trust me, the anticipation was palpable. The buzz around the house was contagious as our junior and senior boys prepared their teams and strategies for the showdown against Bolton and Barnacle.

Both the junior boys and senior boys won one game and lost the other. The games were well fought but unfortunately some of the skill shown by the Bolton boys couldn’t be matched by our diligent Harvey boys.

The senior boys Soccer team also departed today for their provincial tournament. Good luck to John Z, Samuel, Tim, Julian, Lucas, Luis O, and Rayane. Bring back the trophy boys!
